The Graduate Institute of Russia Studies at National Chengchi University cordially invites you to attend the upcoming 2026 International Conference “Russia and the European Union at a Crossroads”.
Date: Friday, June 12, 2026
Time: 09:00–18:00
Venue: Rm 271112, 11th Floor, N. Wing, General Building.
Conference Overview
The Russo-Ukrainian War that erupted in 2022 represents the most severe geopolitical shock in 21st-century Europe and signals the end of the post-Cold War vision of a "Greater Europe." Since the 1990s, the EU and Russia had attempted to construct a common security and economic space "from Lisbon to Vladivostok" through economic interdependence and energy cooperation. However, the outbreak of the war thoroughly shattered this strategic concept. Following this, the European strategic environment has undergone a fundamental transformation, gradually moving towards a structural pattern of "long-term confrontation." EU-Russia relations have also shifted from past interdependence towards comprehensive decoupling, reshaping global energy geopolitics and forcing Europe to redefine its security architecture and value boundaries.
This conference aims to bring together global experts in geopolitics, international relations, economics, and law to jointly explore the long-term impact of this conflict on Russia-EU relations and attempt to outline the new order that may emerge in Eurasia in the post-confrontation era.
This conference features both English and Chinese sessions, and attendees are free to choose which to participate in. Scholars, students, and anyone interested in this topic are welcome to actively participate and join us in this grand event!
