2026 International Conference: "Russia and the European Union at a Crossroads"
The Graduate Institute of Russian Studies at National Chengchi University cordially invites you to attend the upcoming 2026 International Conference, “Russia and the European Union at a Crossroads.”
(Note: Please take the North Wing elevators to the 11th floor)
Conference Overview
The Russo-Ukrainian War that began in 2022 stands as the most significant geopolitical shock in Europe in the 21st century, marking a decisive rupture with the post-Cold War vision of a “Greater Europe.” Since the 1990s, the EU and Russia had attempted to construct a common security and economic space "from Lisbon to Vladivostok" through economic interdependence and energy cooperation. However, the outbreak of the war thoroughly shattered this strategic concept.
Following this conflict, the European strategic environment has undergone a fundamental transformation, gradually moving towards a structural pattern of "long-term confrontation." EU-Russia relations have shifted from interdependence towards comprehensive decoupling, reshaping global energy geopolitics and forcing Europe to redefine its security architecture and value boundaries.
This conference aims to bring together global experts in geopolitics, international relations, economics, and law to jointly explore the long-term impact of this conflict on Russia-EU relations and to outline the new order that may emerge in Eurasia in the post-confrontation era.
